The Lady Who Continues to Bloom

How Mrs. Elite Earth International–Fire 2024 Lourdjean Gonzales Galvez Turned Purpose, Discipline, and Late-Blooming Courage Into Her Life’s Finest Crown
By the time most people begin to talk about slowing down, Lourdjean Gonzales Galvez decided to speed up. At 60, she walked onto an international stage wearing a sash that bore the name of the Philippines, a country where beauty pageants are practically a national sport, and walked off not only with the title Mrs. Elite Earth International–Fire 2024, but also with a constellation of honors: Best in Creative Resort Wear, Best in Swimwear, Miss Photogenic, Best in Eco-Tourism Video, and Best National Costume at Miss Earth International. Beyond the pageant stage, she was also recognized for Creative Excellence in Philippine Pageantry at the 5th Primetime Choice Awards, cementing her place as a force not just in competition, but in creative representation.
But if you ask her, this triumph wasn’t about glamour. It wasn’t even about proving anything. “Life becomes more meaningful with age,” she tells Bride Magazine. “At 60, I am calmer, more grateful, and much clearer about what truly matters, family, health, and purpose. It’s no longer about proving myself. It’s about living with intention and gratitude.”
It is this clarity, this sharp recalibration of what matters, that has defined Lourdjean’s late-blooming ascent.
The Crown That Chose Her
Lourdjean has worn several crowns, but only one holds her heart. “The Mrs. Elite Earth journey was my ultimate test,” she confesses. The weight of carrying the Philippine flag on an international stage, at an age when most women are told to shrink rather than shine, became her fuel.
The crown, she says, is not merely metal and stones. It is “a symbol of sacrifice, resilience, and believing in yourself, even late in life.”
Her victory didn’t just elevate her profile; it disrupted ageist expectations often whispered in the world of pageantry. At 60, Lourdjean showed that beauty doesn’t fade. It deepens.
A Life Chasing Public Service, Not Spotlight
Long before the evening gowns and international stages, there were patients, prayers, and the relentless hum of a maternity clinic. For 15 years, Lourdjean owned and managed the LGC Care Maternity Medical Clinic, dedicating her daily life to mothers and newborns.
“It was simple, saving mothers and babies,” she says. “I understood how heavy maternity care can be, so excellence and compassion became my non-negotiables. It gave my life purpose and meaning.”
Her roots in public service run even deeper. She spent 25 years at the Quezon City Health Department, an experience she calls transformative.
“Public health taught me humility, compassion, and empathy,” she reflects. “That is where I saw the real needs of people and it shaped my heart for service.”
The beauty queen with the immaculate poise is the same woman who once spent decades in government clinics, holding the hands of anxious mothers and comforting families in their most vulnerable moments.
A Different Kind of Healing: Siargao
After decades in healthcare, one might expect Lourdjean to finally settle into a peaceful retirement. But she instead opened an KABINA Airbnb in Siargao, the surf island known for its raw beauty and restorative calm.
The project was the brainchild of her son, the Doctor Bourdz who anchors her world. “Siargao feels like a healing place,” she says. “I wanted guests to feel that same peace… a home where they can slow down, breathe, reconnect with themselves.”
It’s not hospitality for tourism’s sake; it is hospitality as wellness. As nourishment. As a soft landing spot for weary souls.
On Motherhood, Grandmotherhood, and Becoming Whole
Motherhood, for Lourdjean, was never merely a role. It was her compass. And now, with a grandson, it has become her horizon.
“They give my life purpose,” she says simply. Watching her son serve as a doctor and now as a father makes her feel like every career turn, every sleepless night, every prayer whispered in the quiet corners of her life has led her to this very peace.
It’s no surprise, then, that her central advocacy is women’s empowerment particularly for women her age. Widowed, married, separated, single mothers, it doesn’t matter. She wants to show them that reinvention is not just possible. It is necessary.
“Walang ‘too late,’” she tells me, firmly. “Age doesn’t end dreams, fear does.”
A Woman Made of Discipline and Devotion
Behind her composed exterior lies a woman whose foundation was built on discipline, faith, and the kind of quiet perseverance that rarely makes headlines. “I came from a simple and hardworking family,” she says. Her journey by her own account was not glamorous. It was prayerful. Practical. Purpose-driven.
If people see her as a woman who “has it all together,” she hopes they understand that every step was earned through patience. “I hope they see the discipline, service, and faith behind every milestone,” she says. “That you can actually balance career, family, service, and passion, as long as you have discipline and love.”
The Inspiration Behind the Queen
When asked who inspires her most, she doesn’t hesitate. Not even for a breath.
“My son.”
It is his discipline, his vision, his steady presence by her side from national competitions to international stages that anchors her. “He is my most beloved fan,” she says, smiling.
A Legacy Beyond Crowns
Crowns, no matter how glittering, fade. Lourdjean knows this. And she insists she wants something far less fleeting.
“I want to be remembered for impact, not glamour,” she answers. “Someone who used every blessing to serve… a woman who uplifted others, cared for families, and lived a life rooted in love and purpose.”
In an age obsessed with youth, virality, and instant achievement, Lourdjean offers a different story, one carved slowly, intentionally, with reverence for every phase of life.
At 60, she didn’t reinvent herself. She simply stepped into the fullness of who she had always been. And in doing so, she became living proof of the philosophy she now carries like a quiet anthem:
Live with gratitude and lead with love. Always choose kindness, because it returns to you in ways far greater than you ever imagined.
