Spreading her Wings

Like a butterfly, Sherie Beatrice has also gone through her version of a metamorphosis. Before she could grow into the woman that she’s meant to be, she had to first experience a lot of changes and challenges along the way. “I can say that a woman signifies maturity. Her worth is immeasurable." Now, she is ready to face the new stage of her life, as she embraces change with the beauty and elegance like that of a butterfly.
BEFORE WOMANHOOD | Growing up, Sherie was reliant on her mother for everything and anything. “Before I turned 18, I was just a girl who still looked to my mom for guidance and support. I depended on her for so many things,” she shared. She also admitted to being a spoiled brat before, as she would tell her mother to buy her expensive stuff as a reward, especially when she received high grades from her classes. But all of that has changed the moment she reached womanhood.
GROWING PAINS AND GAINS | The debutante affirms to not having a liking for socializing with people before. She just preferred to stay in the house rather than go out with friends. She, however, admits to having missed out on a lot of things during her early teenage years. “Life seemed a lot more colorful and active then. It felt like it was a season where I could accomplish everything and anything within a week,” she said. Nonetheless, the young woman is now making up for the lost time.
Now that she’s officially an adult, she continues to make it a good habit by socializing with friends and by being more in-tune with her surroundings. Plus, she’s welcomed a brighter outlook in life by making tough yet important decisions while staying open and positive. Aside from these, Sherie also makes it a point to always lay-out plans for her future, which is a very (commendable) adult thing to do.
Her fashion perspective also changed in terms of experimenting with different shades of clothing. She used to hate wearing outfits that were pink and pastel but now loves donning both. “As time passed, I began to appreciate dressing both colors."
DREAM A DREAM | Like any fine and smart lady, Sherie dreams of a lot of things like becoming a fashion model and finishing college. She aspires to be a flight attendant too, which is a job that will enable her to travel the world and to see new places. “I also dream of giving my mom a nice house and a relaxed life as she retires,” she said.
LOOKING FORWARD | Now that she’s a woman, the debutante looks forward to having more perspective in life. “I want to be reminded that the little things that I got upset about aren't worth getting upset over. So when a similar situation happens again, I can confidently respond with more wisdom and truth,” she shared. It’s also important for her to learn better decision-making skills, as it will help allow her to make healthier choices in life.
WORDS OF WISDOM | “They say that intelligent people learn from their own mistakes, and are wise to learn from others. And to have a mix of both, will be the most efficient way for me to grasp what life has to teach and offer.” Wise words, indeed.
THE DEBUT | Sherie’s 18th birthday party was an important date that she and her mother looked forward to the most. “I never actually planned on having one because the expenses for celebrating such a huge and festive party is unbearable to even think of,” she said. They, however, still pushed through with it. “My mom was the one who prepared everything for my 18th birthday.” Planning for it might have been stressful for the young woman. But she learned that if you set things first, everything will eventually fall into place.
A WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE | While the entire debut was an unforgettable experience, Sherie still recounted several of her favorite moments from the party. From her 18th birthday, she remembered loving the feeling of going down the stairs, while singing Part of My World. She also enjoyed the rave party that night. Apart from these, the debutante treasured all of the gifts that she received from her guests, particularly the Pandora bracelet from her father’s friend. Receiving that kind of jewelry was symbolic for the young lady because for her, “having a bracelet is part of womanhood,” she shared.
